Ingredients

For the Cabbage Rolls

  • 1 large green cabbage

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully remove the cabbage leaves and blanch them for 2–3 minutes until flexible. Drain and cool.
  2. In a bowl, combine ground beef, rice, onion, garlic, egg, salt, pepper, paprika, and parsley.
  3. Place about 2 tablespoons of filling on each cabbage leaf and roll tightly, tucking in the sides.
  4. Mix together tomato sauce, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  5. Spread a layer of sauce in a baking dish or oven-safe pan.
  6. Arrange cabbage rolls seam-side down in the dish.
  7. Pour the remaining sauce over the rolls.
  8. Cover with foil or a lid and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 1½–2 hours.
