Homemade Philly Cheesesteak Cheesy Bread!
This delicious dish combines the flavors of a Philly cheesesteak with cheesy bread, making it a perfect appetizer, snack, or even a main course.
Ingredients:
For the Philly Cheesesteak:
1 lb thinly sliced ribeye steak (or sirloin, if you prefer)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional, for extra flavor)
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional for extra flavor)
For the Cheesy Bread:
1 loaf French bread or baguette (about 12 inches)
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup provolone cheese, shredded (or use all mozzarella if preferred)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and pepper, to taste
Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
1. Cook the Philly Cheesesteak Filling:
Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the sliced onions and bell pepper (if using) and sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened and lightly caramelized.
Add the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Add the thinly sliced ribeye steak to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 3-5 minutes, or until the steak is cooked through and browned.
Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce (if using). Stir to combine and remove from heat. Set aside.
2. Prepare the Cheesy Bread:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Slice the French bread or baguette in half lengthwise to create two long halves.
Place the bread halves on a baking sheet, cut-side up.
Brush the cut sides with the melted butter and sprinkle evenly with garlic powder, dried oregano, salt, and pepper.
Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese and provolone cheese evenly over the bread halves.
3. Bake the Cheesy Bread:
Place the cheesy bread in the oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
4. Assemble the Philly Cheesesteak Cheesy Bread:
Once the cheesy bread is done baking, remove it from the oven.
Spoon the cooked Philly cheesesteak filling (steak, onions, peppers, and garlic) evenly over the cheesy bread.
Optionally, sprinkle with more cheese on top, and return it to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes to melt the cheese on top.
5. Serve:
Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for a couple of minutes.
Slice the cheesy bread into individual servings and garnish with chopped parsley if desired.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
Tips:
Bread Option: If you prefer a different type of bread, you can use ciabatta or sourdough for a more rustic feel.
Cheese Variations: For a more authentic Philly cheesesteak flavor, you can substitute Cheez Whiz or American cheese instead of the mozzarella and provolone.
Spicy Kick: Add jalapeños or a drizzle of hot sauce to the cheesesteak mixture for some heat!
