🥩🧅 Steak with Caramelized Onion Gravy

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 3–4)

For the Steaks:

  • 3–4 beef steaks (ribeye, sirloin, or strip)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

For the Onion Gravy:

  • 2 large onions (sliced into rings)

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp flour

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • ½ tsp thyme (optional)

  • Salt & pepper to taste

1️⃣ Season the Steaks

Pat dry. Season both sides with:

2️⃣ Cook the Steaks

  2. Add olive oil.

  4. Add butter in last minute and spoon over steaks.

  5. Remove and rest 5–10 minutes.

3️⃣ Make the Caramelized Onions

In the same pan:

  1. Lower heat to medium.

  2. Add butter + olive oil.

  3. Add onions and brown sugar.

  4. Cook slowly 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally until golden and soft.


4️⃣ Make the Gravy

  1. Sprinkle flour over onions. Stir 1 minute.

  2. Add beef broth slowly while stirring.

  3. Add Worcestershire sauce + thyme.

  4. Simmer 3–5 minutes until thickened.


5️⃣ Assemble

Place steaks back in skillet.
Spoon gravy over top.
Simmer 2 minutes.
Serve hot.
