Salisbury Steak Patties
-
1½ lb (680 g) ground beef (80/20 works best)
-
½ cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
-
1 egg
-
1 small onion, finely chopped
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tsp salt
-
½ tsp black pepper
-
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Gravy
-
1½ cups beef broth
-
8 oz (225 g) mushrooms, sliced
-
1 onion, thinly sliced
-
2 tbsp ketchup
-
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
-
1 packet brown gravy mix
(or 2 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp flour for homemade)
👩🍳 Instructions
1. Make the Patties
In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, onion, garlic, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
Mix gently and form into 4–5 oval patties.
2. Brown the Patties (Recommended)
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat.
Brown patties 2–3 minutes per side (they don’t need to cook through).
➡️ This adds flavor and helps patties hold together.
3. Assemble in Slow Cooker
Place sliced onions and mushrooms in the bottom of the slow cooker.
Lay patties on top.
In a bowl, whisk together:
-
Beef broth
-
Ketchup
-
Worcestershire sauce
-
Gravy mix
Pour gravy over patties.
4. Slow Cook
Cover and cook:
-
LOW: 6–7 hours
-
HIGH: 3–4 hours
Patties will be tender and gravy thick.
5. Serve
Serve hot with gravy spooned generously over the top.
