🥩 Philly Cheesesteak Wellington

Crispy, golden puff pastry filled with juicy steak, sautéed peppers and onions, and melty provolone cheese.

⭐ Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • 1 lb ribeye steak, thinly sliced (or use sirloin if preferred)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced

  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce (optional but recommended)

For Assembly:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

  • 6–8 slices provolone cheese (or white American cheese)

  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

  • 1 tbsp water

🔥 Instructions:

1. Prepare the Filling:

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.

  • Add onions and bell peppers. Sauté for 6–8 minutes until softened and lightly caramelized.

  • Add sliced steak, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce.

  • Cook for 3–5 minutes, just until the steak is no longer pink. Don’t overcook.

  • Remove from heat and let the mixture cool completely (important so it doesn’t make the pastry soggy).

2. Assemble the Wellington:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

  • Roll out puff pastry on a lightly floured surface or parchment paper to smooth any creases.

  • Place a layer of provolone cheese slices in the center, leaving a 1.5–2-inch border on all sides.

  • Spoon the cooled steak and pepper mixture evenly over the cheese.

  • Top with another layer of cheese slices.

3. Seal and Wrap:

  • Fold the sides of the puff pastry over the filling, then fold the ends over, pressing to seal.

  • Place seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  • Mix the egg with 1 tbsp water and brush the egg wash over the top and sides for a golden finish.

4. Bake:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and fully cooked.

  • Let rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.

🍽 Serving Suggestions:

  • Serve warm, sliced into thick portions.

  • Great with a side of garlic fries, a simple salad, or au jus for dipping.

🔁 Variations:

  • Add mushrooms or jalapeños for a kick.

  • Use mozzarella or cheddar if you prefer a different cheese.

  • Try mini versions using crescent dough or puff pastry squares for handheld party bites.
