Mexican Tostadas de Carne Asada with Guacamole and Pico de Gallo 🌮🥑🍅

A bold and delicious Mexican classic featuring grilled carne asada, creamy guacamole, and fresh pico de gallo on a crunchy corn tostada. Perfect for gatherings or a flavorful weeknight meal!


Ingredients

For the Tostadas:

  • 1 lb flank or skirt steak

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp ground cumin

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 8 corn tostadas

For the Guacamole:

  • 2 ripe avocados

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • 1 small onion, finely chopped

  • 1 small tomato, diced

  • Salt to taste

For the Pico de Gallo:

  • 2 medium tomatoes, diced

  • ½ onion, finely chopped

  • 1 jalapeño, minced (optional)

  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro, chopped

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • Salt to taste


Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Steak

  1. Marinate: In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Rub this marinade all over the steak. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes.

  2. Grill or Sear: Preheat a grill or skillet to medium-high heat. Cook the steak for about 4–5 minutes per side or until your preferred doneness. Let it rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.

Step 2: Make the Guacamole

  1. In a bowl, mash the avocados with a fork.

  2. Stir in lime juice, chopped onion, diced tomato, and salt. Mix to your preferred consistency.

Step 3: Make the Pico de Gallo

  1. In a separate bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped onion, minced jalapeño (if using), cilantro, lime juice, and salt.

  2. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.

Step 4: Assemble the Tostadas

  1. On each corn tostada, add a layer of sliced steak.

  2. Spoon on a generous amount of guacamole.

  3. Top with fresh pico de gallo.

  • Make it spicier: Add more jalapeño or a dash of hot sauce.
