🥙 Mediterranean Greek Chicken Gyros

Ingredients (Serves 3–4)

For the Chicken Marinade:

  • 500 g chicken breast or thighs, thinly sliced

  • 3 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp dried oregano

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp cumin

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ¾ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp chili flakes (optional)


For Tzatziki Sauce:

  • 1 cup Greek yogurt

  • ½ cucumber, grated & squeezed dry

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice or vinegar

  • 1–2 garlic cloves, minced

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp fresh dill or parsley, chopped (optional)


For Greek Salad:

  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

  • 1 cucumber, chopped

  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced

  • ½ cup olives (Kalamata or black)

  • ½ cup feta cheese, cubed or crumbled

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp lemon juice or red wine vinegar

  • ½ tsp oregano

  • Salt & pepper to taste


For Serving:

  • Pita bread or flatbread

  • Lettuce (optional)

  • Extra feta & olives


👨‍🍳 Instructions

1. Marinate the Chicken

Mix olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt, pepper, and chili flakes.
Add chicken and coat well.
Cover and marinate for at least 30 minutes (best: 2–4 hours).


2. Cook the Chicken

Heat a pan or grill on medium-high.
Cook chicken for 4–5 minutes per side until golden and fully cooked.
Set aside.


3. Make Tzatziki

In a bowl, mix yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and herbs.
Chill for 15–20 minutes for best flavor.


4. Prepare Greek Salad

Mix tomatoes, cucumber, onion, olives, and feta.
Drizzle with olive oil, lemon juice, oregano, salt & pepper. Toss gently.


5. Assemble Gyros

Warm pita bread.
Add chicken, lettuce (optional), Greek salad, and a generous spoon of tzatziki.
