Italian-Inspired Toasted Sandwich
Ingredients (2 sandwiches)

4 slices rustic bread or sourdough

2–3 tbsp basil pesto

6–8 slices fresh mozzarella

6–8 slices tomato
-
6–8 slices salami or prosciutto (optional)

Handful of fresh basil leaves

1–2 tbsp olive oil or butter

Salt & black pepper, to taste

Optional add-ons: roasted red peppers, olives, arugula, balsamic glaze
Instructions

Prep the bread
Lightly brush one side of each bread slice with olive oil or butter. -
Assemble
Flip bread over. Spread pesto on the unbuttered side.
Layer mozzarella, tomato slices, meat (if using), basil, salt & pepper.
Top with the second slice (buttered side facing out). -
Toast
Heat a pan over medium heat.
Toast sandwiches 3–4 minutes per side until golden and the cheese melts.
Press gently with a spatula for extra crispiness. -
Serve
Slice in half. Drizzle with balsamic glaze if you like. Serve hot 🔥

Use low heat so the cheese melts before the bread burns
