🥒🥪 Homemade Cucumber Sandwiches

📝 Ingredients (Makes 6–8 small sandwiches)

For the Sandwiches

  • 8 slices of soft white bread (or whole wheat)

  • 1 large cucumber, thinly sliced

  • 2–3 tbsp butter (softened) or cream cheese

  • Salt, to taste

  • Black pepper, to taste (optional)

Optional Add-Ons

  • 1–2 tbsp fresh dill, finely chopped

  • 1–2 tbsp chives or green onion, finely chopped

  • ½ tsp garlic powder (very light)

  • A squeeze of lemon juice in the spread

  • Thin tomato slices

  • Lettuce or microgreens

🥣 Instructions

1. Prepare cucumber

  • Peel the cucumber (optional).

  • Slice very thinly (use a sharp knife or mandolin).

  • Sprinkle lightly with salt and let sit 10 minutes, then pat dry — this prevents sogginess.

2. Prepare the bread

  • Remove crusts for a traditional look (optional).

  • Lay out the slices.

3. Spread

Choose one:

  • Butter: Spread a thin, even layer on each bread slice.

  • Cream cheese mix: Combine cream cheese with dill/chives, salt, pepper, and optional lemon juice; spread generously.

The spread keeps the bread from getting soggy.

4. Add cucumbers

  • Lay cucumber slices evenly over half of the bread slices.

  • Add a pinch of pepper if you like.

5. Assemble

  • Top with the remaining bread slices.

  • Press gently.

6. Slice

  • Cut sandwiches into:

    • 2 rectangles

    • 2 triangles

    • or 4 small tea sandwich squares

Serve fresh!

🌟 Tips for Perfect Cucumber Sandwiches

  • Use thin, soft, fresh bread — classic tea sandwich style.
