Ham & Cheese Puff Pastry Trees
Ingredients

1 sheet puff pastry, thawed

4–6 slices ham (thinly sliced)

¾–1 cup cheese, shredded or thinly sliced

Gruyère, Swiss, cheddar, or mozzarella work well

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Optional:

Dijon mustard or honey mustard

Black pepper, garlic powder, or Italian seasoning
-
Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (for topping)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the pastry

Roll out the puff pastry slightly on a floured surface.

(Optional) Spread a thin layer of mustard over the pastry.

Layer fillings

Lay ham evenly over the pastry.

Sprinkle cheese evenly on top.

Cut into strips
-
Cut the pastry lengthwise into strips about ¾–1 inch wide.

Shape the trees
-
Take one strip and fold it back and forth in a zigzag pattern, starting wide at the bottom and narrowing toward the top to form a tree shape.

Insert a wooden skewer or pretzel stick through the center to hold the shape.

Egg wash & season

Brush lightly with egg wash.

Sprinkle with seasoning or seeds if desired.

Bake

Place on baking sheet and bake for 15–18 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.

Cool slightly & serve

Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
