🇺🇸 Grandma’s American Goulash

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1½ cups elbow macaroni (uncooked)

  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce

  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (undrained)

  • 2 cups beef broth or water

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (optional, for umami)

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • Salt & black pepper to taste

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for topping)


🥣 Instructions:

STEP 1: Cook the Beef
In a large skillet or pot, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.

STEP 2: Add Aromatics
Add diced onion and minced garlic. Sauté for 2–3 minutes until soft and fragrant.

STEP 3: Build the Sauce
Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, soy sauce (if using), paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring to a gentle boil.

STEP 4: Add Pasta
Stir in uncooked macaroni. Reduce heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for about 15–18 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and the sauce is thickened.

STEP 5: Make it Cheesy (Optional)
If using cheese, sprinkle shredded cheddar over the top and cover until melted — or stir it in.
