🐚 Garlic Butter Baked Scallops

🧾 Ingredients

  • 450g (1 lb) sea scallops (patted dry)

  • 3 tbsp butter (melted)

  • 3–4 garlic cloves (minced)

  • 2 tbsp lemon juice

  • Salt & black pepper

  • 2 tbsp parsley (chopped)

  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)

  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan (optional)


⏱️ Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Preheat oven

Set to 200°C (400°F)

2. Prep scallops

  • Rinse lightly and pat completely dry

  • Remove the small side muscle if attached

  • Season with salt and pepper

3. Make garlic butter

Mix:

  • Melted butter

  • Garlic

  • Lemon juice

4. Assemble

  • Place scallops in a baking dish in a single layer

  • Pour garlic butter over them

Optional topping:
Mix breadcrumbs + Parmesan + a little butter, then sprinkle on top

5. Bake

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes

  • Scallops should be opaque and slightly firm

  • Don’t overcook (they turn rubbery fast)

6. Finish

  • Sprinkle fresh parsley

  • Optional squeeze of lemon before serving

  • Dry scallops = better texture (very important)

  • Use large sea scallops, not small ones

  • Slightly undercook — they continue cooking after removal

  • Broil for 1–2 minutes at the end for a golden top (optional)
