Crispy Egg Rolls with Sweet Chili Dip

Crispy on the outside, savory on the inside — these egg rolls are packed with seasoned meat and veggies, then dipped in a zesty sweet chili sauce. Perfect for appetizers, snacks, or party platters!

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 1 lb ground beef or chicken

  • 1 cup finely shredded cabbage

  • 1/2 cup grated carrots

  • 1/2 cup chopped green onions

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced

  • Salt & pepper to taste

For the Egg Rolls:

  • 10–12 egg roll wrappers

  • Oil for frying (vegetable or peanut oil recommended)

For the Sweet Chili Dipping Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup sweet chili sauce

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp lime juice

Instructions

🔹 Step 1: Prepare the Filling

  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground meat until browned. Drain excess fat.

  • Add cabbage, carrots, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, ginger, salt & pepper.

  • Cook for another 3–4 minutes until veggies are tender. Set aside to cool slightly.

🔹 Step 2: Assemble the Egg Rolls

  • Lay out an egg roll wrapper like a diamond. Add 2 tbsp of filling to the center.

  • Fold bottom corner over filling, then fold in sides and roll tightly.

  • Seal the top corner with a dab of water to hold it closed. Repeat for all rolls.

🔹 Step 3: Fry the Egg Rolls

  • Heat about 1–2 inches of oil in a skillet to 350°F (175°C).

  • Fry egg rolls in batches for 3–4 minutes per side, or until golden brown.

  • Remove and drain on paper towels.

🔹 Step 4: Make the Dipping Sauce

  • Mix sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, and lime juice in a small bowl. Stir to combine.

🔹 Step 5: Serve

  • Serve egg rolls hot with the dipping sauce on the side.
