Cheesy Patty Melt (Burger–Grilled Cheese )

Description

The cheesy patty melt is the ultimate comfort food mashup—combining a juicy burger patty with the crispy, buttery goodness of grilled cheese. Instead of a traditional bun, it uses toasted bread layered with melted cheese, caramelized onions, and a perfectly seasoned beef patty. Every bite is rich, savory, and slightly crunchy on the outside while remaining juicy and cheesy inside. It’s perfect for a quick indulgent lunch or dinner and feels like something straight out of a diner.

Ingredients

For the Patty:

  • 300g ground beef
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder

For the Sandwich:

  • 4 slices bread (white, sourdough, or Texas toast)
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (or Swiss)
  • 1 large onion (thinly sliced)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise (optional, for crispier bread)

Optional Sauce:

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp mustard

Instructions

  1. Caramelize Onions:
Heat 1 tbsp butter in a pan on medium-low heat. Add sliced onions and cook slowly for 15–20 minutes until golden brown and soft. Set aside.
  2. Prepare Patties:
Divide ground beef into 2 thin patties shaped like your bread. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Cook Patties:
In the same pan, cook patties for about 3–4 minutes per side until nicely browned. Remove and set aside.
  4. Assemble Sandwich:
Spread butter (or mayo) on one side of each bread slice.
    On the unbuttered side, layer:
    • Cheese
    • Beef patty
    • Caramelized onions
    • Another slice of cheese
    • Top with bread
  5. Grill:
Cook sandwich on medium heat for 3–4 minutes per side until bread is golden and crispy and cheese is fully melted.
  6. Serve:
Slice in half and serve hot with optional sauce.
