Ingredients
- 1 small head of green cabbage
- 1 medium Vidalia onion chopped
- 8 tablespoons of butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 10-ounce can of condensed cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup
- 1/3 cup mayonnaise
- 3 tablespoons of melted butter for topping
- 1 cup of shredded sharp cheddar cheese for topping
Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 2-quart casserole dish.

Coarsely chop the cabbage. In a large nonstick pan, melt butter. Add cabbage and onion, cooking for 8 to 10 minutes until partially cooked down, stirring frequently. Season with salt and pepper.

Transfer the cabbage mixture to the prepared baking dish.

In a small bowl, mix the soup and mayonnaise. Spread this mixture over the cabbage.

Combine melted butter and cheese in a bowl. Sprinkle this topping over the casserole.

Bake for 30 minutes or until the topping is nicely browned.

For added flavor, consider mixing in cooked ground beef or turkey with the cabbage mixture before baking.
