🥦 Air-Fried Crispy Cauliflower

Golden, crunchy on the outside, tender inside—and dangerously snackable. This is a go-to side, appetizer, or meatless main.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium head cauliflower, cut into bite-size florets

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs (or regular breadcrumbs)

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan (optional but 🔥)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (or regular paprika)

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • Optional kick: cayenne or chili flakes

Optional batter (extra crispy version):

  • 1 egg, beaten
    or

  • ¼ cup milk or plant milk + 2 tbsp flour

Instructions

  1. Prep the cauliflower
Wash, dry well, and cut into evenly sized florets. Dry = crispier.

  2. Season & coat
Toss cauliflower with olive oil until lightly coated.
In a separate bowl, mix breadcrumbs, Parmesan, and all spices.

    • For maximum crunch: dip florets into egg or batter first, then into breadcrumb mix.

    • For lighter crunch: toss florets directly in breadcrumb mix.

  3. Preheat air fryer
    380°F (193°C) for 3–5 minutes.

  4. Air fry
Arrange cauliflower in a single layer (don’t overcrowd).
Air fry at 380°F for 12–15 minutes, shaking or flipping halfway.
Add 2–3 extra minutes if you want them extra golden.

  5. Finish & serve
Serve hot. Optional squeeze of lemon or sprinkle of fresh herbs 👌

Dipping Sauce Ideas (Highly Recommended)

  • Buffalo sauce (toss right after cooking)

  • Garlic aioli

  • Honey sriracha

  • Yogurt + lemon + garlic + salt

Q & A

Q: How do I make it extra crispy?
A: Dry the cauliflower thoroughly, use panko, and don’t overcrowd the basket. A light oil spray on top helps too.

Q: Can I make it vegan?
A: Yep! Skip the egg and Parmesan. Use plant milk + flour or just oil + breadcrumbs.

Q: Frozen cauliflower—yes or no?
A: It works, but thaw completely and pat very dry. Expect slightly less crunch than fresh.

Q: Can I reheat leftovers?
A: Absolutely. Air fry at 375°F for 3–5 minutes. Avoid the microwave unless you like soggy sadness.

Q: Can I turn this into a meal?
A: Toss with buffalo sauce and serve in tacos, wraps, or over a salad. Add chickpeas for protein.
