Crispy Grilled Ham & Cheese Sandwich

Ingredients (2 sandwiches)

  • 4 slices sandwich bread (white, brioche, or sourdough)

  • 4–6 slices ham (smoked or cooked)

  • 4 slices cheese (Swiss, cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)

  • 2–3 tbsp softened butter

  • 1 tbsp mayonnaise (optional but amazing)

  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)

  • ½ tsp dried parsley or oregano (optional)


Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread

    • Butter one side of each bread slice

    • (Optional) Mix butter with garlic powder & herbs for extra flavor

  2. Assemble

    • Place bread butter-side down

    • Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the inside (optional)

    • Add cheese → ham → cheese (cheese on both sides helps melt)

    • Top with second bread slice, butter-side up

  3. Cook

    • Heat pan or skillet over medium-low heat

    • Cook sandwich 3–4 minutes per side

    • Press gently until:

      • Bread is golden brown

      • Cheese is fully melted

  4. Rest & serve

    • Let sit 1 minute
