🍞 Air Fryer Bread and Butter Pudding
Ingredients:
-
6 slices of white bread
-
Butter (enough to spread on both sides of each slice)
-
3 large eggs
-
300 ml (1¼ cups) milk
-
2 tbsp sugar (caster or granulated)
-
1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
-
A handful of currants or raisins
-
A little extra butter for greasing the dish
-
A pinch of nutmeg or cinnamon (optional)
Instructions:
-
Prepare the bread:
-
Butter both sides of each slice of bread.
-
Cut into triangles or halves.
-
Grease a small ovenproof or air fryer–safe dish with butter.
-
-
Layer the pudding:
-
Arrange the buttered bread slices in the dish, slightly overlapping.
-
Sprinkle some currants (or raisins) between layers and on top.
-
-
Make the custard:
-
In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla extract.
-
Pour this mixture evenly over the bread, pressing the bread down gently so it soaks up the liquid.
-
Let it sit for 5–10 minutes to absorb.
-
-
Cook in the air fryer:
-
Place the dish into the air fryer basket.
-
Set the air fryer to 160°C (320°F).
-
Cook for 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the custard has set.
-
-
Serve:
-
Let it cool slightly before serving.
-
Enjoy warm with custard, cream, or ice cream.
