🥩 Pepper Steak with Bell Peppers and Onion

✅ Ingredients:

For the Steak Marinade:

  • 1 lb (450g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tsp cornstarch

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

For the Stir-Fry:

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (divided)

  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced

  • 1 small yellow onion, sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1-inch piece ginger, minced (optional)

For the Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional)

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

  • 1/2 cup beef broth or water

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

🔪 Instructions:

1. Marinate the Beef:

In a medium bowl, combine sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, sesame oil, sugar, and pepper. Mix well and marinate for at least 15–30 minutes (or up to 2 hours in the fridge).

2. Make the Sauce:

In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin (if using), cornstarch, beef broth, sugar, and pepper. Set aside.

3. Cook the Beef:

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the beef in a single layer (cook in batches if needed). Sear for 1–2 minutes per side until browned but not overcooked. Remove beef and set aside.

4. Cook the Vegetables:

Add the remaining 1 tbsp oil to the pan. Add garlic, ginger (if using), onion, and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until slightly softened but still crisp.

5. Combine and Finish:

Return the beef to the pan. Stir the sauce again (cornstarch may settle) and pour it in. Stir-fry for another 2–3 minutes until everything is well coated and the sauce thickens.
